YAH HOPE - MOZAMBIQUE

YAH Hope is an NGO (non-profit organization) whose main objective is to contribute to social development in Mozambique. Through actions, love and constancy, YAH Hope works together with the local population to achieve human dignity, that is, transform the reality of families who find themselves in vulnerable situations.

With one of the 10 lowest human development indices in the world (0.456), we see Mozambique as the first location for YAH Hope. A place where there is a need in the areas of child nutrition, education, basic sanitation and a thirst for hope.

Mozambique is a country located on the African continent, with many riches, but at the same time explored. Through the strength and joy of the local population, YAH Hope seeks to contribute to this nation so that lives are transformed and futures are shaped.

WHY MOZAMBIQUE?

OUR STORY

Our story began to be written in June 2020, when the project leaders, Lucas Wagner and Carolina, received clear direction that they should start a social development project in Mozambique. Initially, that was the year that everything would start, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic this dream had to be postponed, despite having been very nurtured on a daily basis.

After 2 years, they made their first trip to the country with the aim of mapping the place and deciding where they would settle. They passed through three states until they reached the conclusion that YAH Hope would initially settle in the state of Nampula.

The reason for the name YAH Hope has a very special meaning. “YAH”, is the name of the church that encouraged and planted the beginning of this great dream. And “Hope” comes from a story that the leader experienced on her first trip to the African continent in 2016. When a boy who met her asked if he could call her by another name, by the name Hope (Hope in English), because When he looked at her, that was the feeling he had, of hope.

And that is the main objective of YAH Hope, to bring hope where there is none. The hope of the certainty of the transformation of realities. A hope that brings new opportunities and new stories that will be built by faith, love and dedication.

For us, this hope is not only carried by the project leaders, but by everyone who embraces this cause of transforming human dignity. For those who believe they are driven to live a life with a greater purpose. So we hope that this project is not just called someone else's project, but that you can call it yours. You can be part of this story.

MISSION

Our main objective is to promote human dignity. Through social work, we aim to transform human beings as a whole, providing basic needs and developing families in their social context. With training and capacity building, YAH Hope units will be coordinated and led by the local population so that they can impact their nation and see not only their generation develop, but also all future generations.

HOPE

It originates from the project leader’s first experience on the African continent, in 2016.

A child asked if he could call him something else and the name came upHope(hope in English), because that was the feeling that generated in her when looking at the leader.
